The jazz-fusion group DJABE is not only the number one group in Hungary, but for the 10 years since its foundation, it has also received recognition and won many international prizes outside its homeland. The double album Witchi Tai To (2000) was voted the best album of the year in Hungary in the category Best Hungarian Jazz / World Music Album (Golden Giraffe Award). In 2002, the Update album was awarded the Best Hungarian World Music Album of the Year award (eMeRTon). In addition, in 2000, Ly-O-Lay Ale Ale Loya was also nominated for the Golden Giraffe Award, and the album Sheafs are Dancing was nominated for the Phonogram Award as the best jazz album in Hungary. The DVD audio version of this album in 2004 received the international PRince Award. In 2005, this album was also nominated for the Surround Music Award.

DJABE is one of the most popular Hungarian jazz groups participating in international festivals. Over the past three years, the group has successfully performed in several countries in Europe and in North America. We list only the most important of these concerts and festival performances: Kaunas Jazz Festival, Lithuania; Burghausen Jazzwoche, Germany; Jazz Goes To Town, Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic; Bansko Jazzfestival, Bulgaria; Spitz, London, UK; Jazzdays, Bratislava, Slovakia; Jazzfair, Cakovec, Croatia; Club Colosseum, Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Mercuria Ciuc, Romania; Prešov, Slovakia; Rochester International Jazzfestival, New York, USA; Washington, USA; Pori Jazz Festival, Finland; Stockholm Jazz Festival, Sweden. The group also regularly performs at jazz festivals in Hungary. DJABE performs unique music in which elements of jazz and are combined with Hungarian music and the music of other nations. The lead composer of the group is its leader and the most virtuosic Hungarian bass player Tamas Barabash.
